Romans 12:1-2 NIV

28 Mar

1. Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God this is your spiritual act of worship.

2. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Thought of the day….

Do not conform to the patterns of this world but be transformed. In the popular kids movie The Transformers objects like buildings, trucks, and bridges are “transformed” into something else than they were originally. In our case we might not change physically but be changed spiritually into the person God calls us to be. Do this by replacing what’s inside us as the world, with things of God. Renew our minds and live Gods good perfect will for us.

Today I ask, are you ready to be transformed?

Psalms 89:47 NIV

26 Mar

Remember how fleeting is my life. For what futility you have created all men!

Thought of the day….

Fleeting & Futile? Our lives are passing so quickly. Our lives are over in an instant weather young or old. Today verse is asking the question, “ we are here for such a short time so why were we created, if we are doing nothing for God?” We manage to be so futile in our busyness and do nothing for God. Think about it, we have been going 90 mph all day today from 5:00 am to midnight with the busyness of life. Hopefully we started my day with quite time and possibly did manage to go to a worship service this week, but is it enough? However our every breath should be for the glory of God, not just the convenient times of your day.

Today I ask, how futile is your day?

Exodus 20:5 NIV

19 Mar

5. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,

Thought of the day….

Who or what is you God? It’s the first commandment. Have no other God’s before Me and worship only Me. What are you putting before God? The things we put before God can become our first priority and thus become like our God. Money? Career? Friends? Family? Even though all these are important in life they should not consume us or dictate our life in such a way we neglect our first relationship, God.

Today I ask, what are you placing before God?

Mark 8:36 NIV

13 Mar

What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?

Thought of the day….

What are your pursuits? Is it wealth? Fame? Prosperity? Christ? Today’s thought hopefully will make us think about what’s truly important in our lives. Sure, while providing a good living for your family is important it won’t buy happiness. I know people that have almost nothing but are perfectly content in the Lord. Mark asks the question of us, what good is it to gain the whole world and lose your soul. He is reminding us that, what’s truly important, is Christ in our lives and not the things we will someday leave behind.

Today I ask, are you gaining the whole world and losing your soul?

James 4:7 NIV

12 Mar

4. Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Thought of the day…..

Webster’s defines submit as, “to give over or yield to the power or authority of another” In this case it is to give over or yield to the power and authority of God. Also in Mark 1:17-18 it says “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.”  At once they left their nets and followed Him. I believe this verse is saying the same thing as James 4:7. “Come follow Me,” Jesus means completely. Submit yourself to Him. Even though we are not all called to official ministry, we are, as born again Christians, called to be witnesses and disciples for Christ.  Do we tend to partly submit to God or partly follow Jesus? “I’ll give you this God, but I’m going to hold on to that”. Again “Give over or yield yourself totally to the power and authority of God”.

Today I ask, Can you say, I am Yours God, all that I am, all that I think, all that I say, and all that I do?

1 Corinthians 13:13 NIV

09 Mar

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Thought of the day….

Love, where does it come from? In the movie “Fireproof” the main character Caleb is told by his dad that “he couldn’t give his wife what he didn’t have.” He was speaking of, Love, the kind of love that come from within and is because of your relationship with Christ. Caleb didn’t know Christ and therefore didn’t know His love and therefore couldn’t give that love to his wife. All great marriage relationships are built from a great relationship with Christ first. Ephesians 5:25 NIV says husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. Christ loved us enough to die for us and we should also be love our wives enough to die for them.

Today I ask, how’s your relationship?
