Philippians 2:3-5 NIV

13 Dec

3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4 Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:

Thought of the day….

Wow! Big shoes to fill huh? Society tells us to get what we can when we can; however, scripture tells us, we should humble ourselves and think of others before ourselves. We should think of others needs over ours. This makes me think of not only strangers but also my family. I should think of their needs far more than mine. I should adopt the attitude of Christ and be a servant to all.

Today I ask, are you willing to humble yourself and put others needs before yours?

Matthew 17:20 NIV

12 Dec

20. He replied, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have the faith of a muster seed, you could say to this mountain, move from here to there and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

Thought of the day….

Do you ever get stuck and don’t know what to do or discouraged because you can make something happen? Today as we look at Matthews’s gospel we see it is very possibly because of our faith. We say we believe but somewhere in the back of our minds is this little voice saying “that’s impossible, that could never happen, that will never work’ and we buy into that lie. I admit I do the same thing, and get stuck too. Today I would like to ask each of you to seek God and believe in Him and His power to perform miracles. Now let’s say “Mountain move from here to there” For nothing is impossible for God.

Today I ask, do you truly have faith that God can do anything?

Mark 10:8 NIV

09 Dec

and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one.

Thought of the day….

Today’s verse is related to a husband and wife coming together in marriage. I believe it it a very deep concept of becoming one in all they do as a couple. They are one in their spiritual relationship with God. They are together in their finances. They are one in thought of how they discipline and rear their children. They are one in everything they do and they must be one in agreement. When we are not one as a couple we send a confusing message to our children. We must come together as one and teach our children how biblically we are to be as husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, and families. Mark 3:25 say’s “if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.”  Men you should be the servant leader of your home and become one flesh with your wife and no longer be two but become one.

Today I ask are you being what God called you to be, one flesh?

James 1:5 NIV

08 Dec

5 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.

Thought of the day….

What was the answer to that question? What should I do in this situation? Wisdom, I think is much more than just intelligence. I know some pretty smart people that sometime I question their wisdom. Wisdom is knowing without a doubt and trusting without question, and that comes only from God. If any of us lack wisdom, we should ask God and He will give it.

Today I ask, have you ask for Wisdom today?

Matthew 25:40 NIV

07 Dec

“The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’

Thought of the day….

Yesterday I saw Jesus! No, No I haven’t gone off my rocker. Yesterday on my way home, there on her corner, was my homeless friend Jackie. As I stopped at the light she came up to me with a smile on her face and made conversation. The thing I noticed most was she was cold, very cold. She wore tattered clothes that included a ragged jacket and her hands were covered by a pair of old holey socks. I left her at the light with all the money I had, and a promise of some gloves. During the night I awoke several times thinking about how cold she must be on the street and prayed for her to be warm. Today’s verse is from a passage in Matthew that describes helping those that are in need and that helping those in need is the same as helping Jesus. This made me think that the Christmas season is all about giving and at the birth of Jesus they brought gifts. So this Christmas season I asking you to bring gifts to Jesus and help those in need.

Today I ask, are you helping Jesus?

Matthew 4:19-20 NIV

06 Dec

19 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” 20 At once they left their nets and followed him.

Thought of the day….

Today as I think about today’s verse and how the disciples left everything and followed Jesus but the more I think about it, I kept coming back to “at once.”  I keep thinking that in Jesus’ time here on earth he had already preformed miracles and John the Baptist had already baptized him. I’m sure that in a time that was information limited, these fishermen, Simon and Andrew, may not have ever heard of Jesus but the things Jesus was doing were spreading throughout the land. Could it be that maybe, they had heard of the miraculous things Jesus was doing and just never dreamed he needed them for anything. Could it be that they never thought simple fisherman had anything to offer but when Jesus came to them they went ‘at once.’ Dropping everything, including the fish nets that provided their livelihood.   I think we may sit back thinking “Wow that Jesus is amazing but I don’t have anything to offer him” but if someone comes by and asks can you do this or that?…. we jump at the chance. Don’t wait until you are asked, each one of us have gifts and talents given by Jesus himself!

Today I ask, are you waiting until you are asked to be engaged in Jesus’ ministry?
